Green Council's MissionTo promote, encourage, and educate on issues concerning Environmentalism and Sustainability on campus and within the community. This group will encourage and participate in UMM's adoption of Environmental policies and practices in accordance with this institution's mission statement. We will become active politically, on campus, locally, and statewide in order to achieve these goals. In doing so, we will work with other organizations, students, faculty and staff and other campus departments to achieve these goals. Message from the President of Green Council Welcome home returning students and allow me to introduce myself to incoming students. My name is Ryan Martin and I am the President of Green Council. For those of you who are unfamiliar with our history and what we do, allow me to update you. Green Council was formed in the fall 07' Semester by a small group of students. So small they could be counted on one hand. In the course of last year, are membership grew to encompass 20 solid members, and we are continuing to grow. Making us the largest and fastest growing organization on campus.Last year we accomplished many goals and did quite abit; winning the state title for RecycleMania, winning a grant for Recycling bins, educational and fun festivals such at "Lights Out and EarthWeek." Most importantly, we set up a growing "base for change" by encouraging administration and departments to take a second look at their operations and move towards a more Eco-friendly way of living and operating. This year we still have many goals and we would love to hear your ideas and thoughts!!! Please join us every Wed. at 5PM at the Kilburn Commons Faculty Dinning Lounge. Thank You,Ryan MartinPresident of Green Council |
